Tooth care

The be all and end all of dental health
The first thing that anyone can do to help their dental health is to try and keep their teeth healthy and getting treatment like tooth whitening to make them look even better can’t be all bad. Brushing regularly and eating the correct foods, foods that are not loaded in sugar, is a good beginning. Brushing and flossing help to keep plaque and other bacteria off of your teeth so that they cannot decay the enamel, which is the hard part on the outside of your teeth. Additionally, eating healthy foods and taking vitamins helps care for your teeth from the inside. Your teeth and bones needs calcium to stay strong. Eating foods that are high in calcium, and taking calcium supplements as well, are very important. Another fact that some people don’t realize is you must have adequate vitamin D levels for your body to be able to process and absorb calcium. Doctors are realizing now more than ever that many people are deficient in vitamin D.

One of the reasons you want to make sure that you brush your teeth after every meal, ideally if you can, is because that once you eat, the bacteria starts to work on decaying your teeth. At the absolute minimum brushing in the morning and brushing at night before you go to bed should be done. The bacteria from the foods that you eat, especially foods loaded in sugar, tries to break down the enamel on the tooth. If the bacteria succeeds in breaking down the enamel this is called a cavity. Once you have a cavity the only way to take care of it is to go to the dentist and have the dentist drill out the decay and fill in the hole with a type of filling.
